This bundle features the popular AM14U4 Drive Base paired in a rugged configuration with our 8" SD Pneumatic Wheels! This chassis configuration is tough with a good level of ground clearance to get over some difficult obstacles. This configuration is great for situations where you need some extra shock-absorption or need to drive outdoors on concrete. Powering this durable drivetrain are Toughbox Mini gearboxes, with a 12.75:1 overall ratio. This product ships as an un-assembled kit, and does not include motors.

The upgrade kits with SKU starting as am-14u5_ are ONLY compatible with the 2023 AM14U5 that use the new ToughBox Mini S Gearbox. 

The AM14U5 is the most versatile chassis for FIRST Robotics Competition teams. The chassis was named as such because there is a flavor of this AndyMark chassis for every one of you. A

Drive Style Options:

• 6 Wheel Drop Center
• 8 Wheel Drop Center
• 4 Wheel, Mecanum

The AM14U4 ship's standard with a 6 wheel drop center drive. The center wheels are dropped to improve turning capabilities. An 8 wheel drive style can be used as well allowing for more points of contact with the playing field. The center four wheels are dropped to decrease turning scrub. If you are interested in omnidirectional drive the U4 will support a four-wheel drive for Mecanum.

Wheel Type:

• HD Mecanum, rigid small profile mecanum wheels for precise driving in all directions.
• SR Mecanum, incredibly smooth-rolling mecanum wheels.
• MK Mecanum, large and high capacity mecanum wheels.
• Performance, high strength high load capacity metal wheels to be used with 1 in. wide replaceable tread.
• XL Performance, the same perks of Performance, but wider! These performance wheels are 0.5 in. wider than regular.
• DuraOmni, these omni wheels can be used in the corners of a U4 to create a rapid turning machine with virtually no scrub.
• Pneumatic SD, plastic hubbed wheels with inflated inner tubes to create a squishy grippy drive.
• Pneumatic HD, metal hubbed wheels with inflated inner tubes. A squishy grippy drive with an unbreakable hub.
• HiGrip, plastic wheels with a strong polycarbonate center and a grippy TPU outside.

Larger wheels move your machine around the ground faster and require lower reduction gearboxes to move them. Small wheels require a larger reduction from your motors to hit the same speeds as big wheels, but take up less space and allow for more wheels.

Changes Beyond Bundles:
While we only list sixteen different upgrade kits here, you can further tweak these options by trying different types of tread on performance wheels, different durometers and diameters of HiGrip wheels, or adjusting the ratio in your gearboxes. This sheet metal part makes up the outer rail of the AM14U5 drive chassis. This rail has different holes to accommodate different wheel sizes, types, and configurations as well as locations for support churros and bearings. This plate contains additional holes as compared to the AM14U4 Outside Plate to accommodate even more features and components.

 

This chassis is the FRAME ONLY portion of the 2022 FRC Kit of Parts chassis, the AM14U5. This product ships as an un-assembled kit and does not include the gearboxes, belts, wheels or motors.

Various Configurations:

Built on the same great features of previous AM14U family chassis, this can be configured into many different perimeter, wheel, and gearbox configurations. There are literally thousands of possible playing configurations. 

It is shipped as a Kit with plates that can build its large square configuration, without any components reduced in length. This makes it the largest possible size and allows for the user to trim the length and width of the chassis to become a long or wide version that fits into different size constraints of each specific year. The assembly instructions show how it can be changed, be sure to check out the assembly videos as well.

This is a complete kit for just the frame portion of a C-Base Chassis that would use up to 6 wheels. This kit is priced lower as the kit together then individual parts.

Examples:

A West Coast style drivetrain can be finicky to create without precision machining capabilities. This Bearing Block Kit makes it much more accessible for teams to create high performance West Coast Drive style platforms with limited fabrication resources. Simply drill a clearance hole for a shaft to pass through your drive rail, pull your chain or belt tight, and clamp it down with the included hardware. Featuring machined pockets to capture 10-32 Nylock Nuts, these blocks can be used and reused without worrying about damaging threads upon installation. Because each block is the same part, you can keep the screw heads pointing to the outside of your robot for easy maintenance. 

This unassembled kit ships with enough hardware to provide significant clamping pressure to help keep your powertrain components tensioned properly, and can withstand upwards of 1500lbs of force along the axis of the tube when properly installed. This means that for most FRC use cases, a team can install these without the need for tensioning devices to keep things aligned.

The AndyMark West Coast Drive Bearing Block Kit is designed to be used with flanged ball bearings with a 1.125" outer race, such as our FR8ZZ-HexHD Bearing.

The AndyMark West Coast Drive Bearing Block Kit also includes mounting geometry for components that utilize 2" and 1.875" bolt circles, such as motors, gearboxes, sprockets, hubs and gears. This makes this product great for many uses outside of your drivetrain, such as a robust interface to make a rotary arm, or an easy-to-use mounting interface for motors to power your mechanisms. The bearing plate is also 2" wide, making it perfect to keep two 20DP gears (of which the total teeth add up to 80,) meshed together.
